Upscale Mediterranean Kitchen Remodel in Ardmore, PA

Design and Collaboration
The homeowners hired the design team at Airy Kitchens, and Calfayan brought their vision to life. The design featured high-end materials and custom details for an upscale Mediterranean vibe. For instance, the tile adds a vibrancy absent in many modern designs.
The Remodeling Process
This renovation project meant gutting the existing kitchen and creating a completely new space.
As this was an older home, we wanted to blend two spaces to create a more open and functional kitchen. The goal was to convert two rooms into one large space that could accommodate larger crowds during dinner parties.
Two roadblocks to that goal were structural. First, the homeowners needed a multi-story brick chimney spanning from the basement through the kitchen to the floors above. The other challenge involved the uneven ceilings in the two existing spaces.
The dining nook was an add-on, and the ceiling for that room was different from the kitchen. The other space was a converted porch. As a result, neither the ceiling nor the floor framing matched the rest of the kitchen.
Thankfully, we have extensive experience in structural framing. As a result, we were well-prepared to face every challenge. For instance, we leveled the ceilings and removed the brick chimney on that floor.
We also added extra structural support for the rest of the chimney, which continued to the second floor. The result was a safer, more cohesive look in the kitchen and dining area.
We also removed the hardwood floors to the studs, strengthened the foundational support, and installed beautiful new flooring.
